Once Upon a Time

So, let me tell y’all a story. Once upon a time, I left my adulthood behind. I let my inner child come out with full force and play.

Everything that kid self wanted to do, and everything that would have dreamed of (within reason) I let her. I realized that we control ourselves more than we need to. Of course, discipline and a certain decorum are needed to function in a society, however, do we not demand too much of it?

That’s a discussion for another day.

We dined with princesses. Their princes and ours could wait. We celebrated frivolous events because why not. I let my kids have control over their lives.

These will be stories they will tell as they grow up. They are creating them “once upon a time”. Once upon a time when they hung out with their cool older cousins and niece and nephew. They felt like adults, for the first time they were allowed to do all the cool things their older cousins were doing.

At the same time, I’m not done creating my stories still. There is so much to be done. So much more to be written. Many more stories have to be told about me. Those stories are not taken place yet. So far I can tell you that once upon a time I went to Cinderella’s castle and dined with the princesses. I fought battles in space around the world and I’m still here to tell you about them. I have lost and won against the fiercest villains and haven’t lost my will to live another day. I’m not a hero. Just the opposite, looking for a good story.

Now the only thing left for me to do is slay the dragon.

Soon!
