Whenever I return to the U.S., I’m told I’m returning to much change. There might be a lot going on internally—I don’t mean domestic politics but in people’s hearts. However, on the surface, everything seems as it always has.
I’ve been asked to talk and write about how this Republican and Trump Presidency will change our world.
The problem is we, in Pakistan, are too far removed from it all. This problem that we try to hide in plain sight with different names such as the “Middle East Crisis” or standing with our “allies,” in reality, we all know it’s Global white supremacy and imperialism.
Even Gandhi believed in the pure white race and its supremacy. Right now, the party leading India perfectly aligns ideology with Netanyahu and Trump’s vision.
So how do we reckon we will be spared from this problem reaching us?
It has already reached the Muslims of India and all over Kashmir.
Let’s keep pretending. Let’s keep denying and relying on the army that is too busy trying to intimidate its people.
Arresting law-abiding citizens who are protesting peacefully.
Let’s leave our faith in the hands of those who only want what’s best for themselves.
I don’t align with any political party, no matter the country.
I stand with my people around the world. I want my country (Pakistan and the United States) to be better and do better.
I want people to decide our present and our future.
I’ve spent a few days here, and everything seems to be the same. Yet, we are all worried about everything that is about to change. The concerns here are not about foreign policy because either administration would hurt and betray our people.
However, Muslims of America had some hope that a democratic government might have been less harsh in the making of domestic policies.
We cannot predict what would have happened. Ultimately, we cannot ignore that President Trump is the President because the people of this country want him to be their leader.
We must brave up and live in our country as we should, proudly, confidently, and ready for whatever may come.
